Puerto Morelos with kids: beach, animals and a kids menu

Puerto Morelos is an easy town to do with kids: it's small, the beach is calm, and nothing is far. Here's how we'd fill a day, and where the small fries can eat.

The beach

The reef sits offshore and breaks the waves, so the water near the main beach is usually calm. Still, keep an eye on the flags and on the kids. Shade and an early start help a lot.

Animals and jungle

Just north of town there's a crocodile zoo where you can see crocodiles, monkeys and other local animals up close. South of town, the Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín botanical garden has boardwalks through the jungle and mangroves, and you might spot spider monkeys. Bring mosquito repellent.

Hours and prices change, so check them before you go.

A kids menu that keeps it simple

Our kids menu is $150 and every meal comes with fries and a flavored water: piña, lime or orange.

Pick from a cheeseburger, 4 crispy chicken fingers with ranch, 4 natural wings with one sauce (Buffalo, BBQ, Cajun or Natural), or a grilled cheese. Grown-ups get the full menu.

Good to know

We have tables outside and the beach is a short walk away. Open every day, 12 to 9 PM. From 3 PM our street closes to cars, which makes it calmer to walk with kids. Park nearby and it's a short walk from there.
