Ruta de los Cenotes from Puerto Morelos: tips and food

The Ruta de los Cenotes starts right outside Puerto Morelos. Here's what to know before you go, and where to eat when you come back hungry.

Where the route starts

The Ruta de los Cenotes is the road that runs inland from Puerto Morelos, across highway 307, toward Leona Vicario. The town hall counts around twenty cenote parks along it. The start is about 4 km, roughly 7 minutes by car, from downtown Puerto Morelos.

How to plan it

Most people visit two or three cenotes in a morning. Each park sets its own entrance fee and hours, and some include ziplines, rappel or jumping platforms, so check before you go. Go early: the water is calmer and there are fewer people.

Bring water, towels and biodegradable sunscreen, or better, none at all before you get in. Some parks are small and family run, so it's a good idea to carry some cash.

Tour or on your own?

With a car it's easy to do on your own; the parks are signposted along the road. Without one, tours from Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos include transport.

After the cenotes: a burger in town

Cenote swimming makes you hungry. Drive back toward the sea, park a few blocks from Av. Javier Rojo Gómez and walk in, or order on WhatsApp from the road and pick it up. We're open every day from 12 to 9 PM.

From 3 PM our street closes to cars, so leave the car nearby and walk a few minutes.
